Genevieve looks into sociology of sports and health

During her sociology degree, Genevieve Jessiman-Perreault combined her interests in sports and health, taking classes in the sociology of sport and the sociology of health. For her honours thesis, she conducted a survey of U of C students and examined students' experiences with sports injury.

Jessiman-Perreault surveyed about 300 students, and examined the effects of gender and type of sport played on returning from injury. During her time as an undergraduate, Genevieve also participated in the Sociology Study Abroad program in Colima, Mexico, and volunteered at Calgary Reads and Bethany Care Centre. Genevieve graduated with First Class Honours.

Genevieve has been accepted into the Master's Program in Community Health Sciences at the U of C for next year.  For her Master's thesis, she will be looking at gender and food insecurity in Canada.
