New theorist in town: Welcome to Dr. Dean Curran

Dr. Dean Curran

Dr. Dean Curran has an MSc in the Philosophy of the Social Sciences from the London School of Economics and completed his PhD in Sociology at Queen’s University, Canada in 2013, after which he held a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship at Lancaster University. His core areas of research are social theory, risk, and inequality. His current research explores how Ulrich Beck’s theory of risk society can be critically reconstructed to identify some of the key relationships between risk and changes in class inequalities in contemporary society.

Dr. Curran has current and forthcoming publications in the British Journal of Sociology, Sociology, and the Wiley-Blackwell Encyclopedia of Globalization.
