Department of Sociology welcomes Dr. Mike Adorjan


We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Mike Adorjan to the Department of Sociology.

Dr. Adorjan earned his PhD from McMaster University in 2009. Upon completion of his doctorate, he accepted a position at the University of Hong Kong where he taught a variety of innovative courses in criminology, as well as on “cyber societies”.

Dr. Adorjan’s research focuses on perceptions and reactions to youth delinquency and crime; fear of crime and trust in police; ex-prisoner desistance and resettlement; criminological theory; interpretive and comparative criminology; cyber-sociality; ‘crimmigration’ and citizenship, especially as related to the policing and regulation of sex work.

Dr. Adorjan’s work has been published in a variety of academic journals, including The Sociological Quarterly, British Journal of Criminology and Journal of Contemporary Ethnography.
